Dog That Waited Three Years For A Home Is Brought Back To Shelter Days After He Was Adopted

A handsome American Staffordshire terrier mix waited three years in a shelter for a loving home. He thought he had found his family last Saturday, but he was returned to the shelter just days after he was adopted.

Geronimo came to The Humane Society of Summit County in 2015. The Ohio shelter is a “no time limit” shelter, and will care for the dogs and cats as long as it takes for them to be adopted. The staff was overjoyed when someone put an application in to adopt him. Sadly, it was not the perfect fit and he was returned to the shelter.

The shelter took to Facebook to announce that Geronimo was still looking for a forever home. They posted, “Geronimo is still looking for the perfect match! We were so happy to announce on Saturday evening that Geronimo had found a family. Unfortunately, it was not a perfect match. His adopter made the difficult decision to return him to the Humane Society yesterday in hopes of finding him a better forever fit. We support the adopter in the return and want to make a perfect match for Geronimo, so the search continues.”

They are not giving up on the sweet boy and are asking their followers to share the news. He loves to go on walks in the park and would make a great hiking or running partner. Geronimo needs a forever home without children and where he is the only pet. He has so much love to give that you will not need any others.

“We would love your help again to spread the word about our handsome boy and help us find the person he has been waiting over 3 years to meet! He is looking for an adult only home and would be best as the only 4-legged family member.”
