Abandoned Senior Beagle With The Saddest Eyes Spends Final Months In Loving Home

Dogs ask for so little. All they want is a soft bed, good food, and someone to love them until they cross the Rainbow Bridge.

A sweet 10-year-old beagle mix named Stella (formerly Estrella) got her wish of a loving home just in time. She arrived at Pasadena Humane Society after her owner abandoned her and 5 other dogs at a friend’s house.

Frosted Face Foundation (FFF), a senior dog rescue, was contacted about Stella and volunteer, Janet Citriniti, drove several hours to free the senior pup and bring her back to their facility.

Stella was extremely shy and was being overlooked by adopters, so another volunteer, Sue King, took her on a two-week Frosted Fling to see if she would show her true personality in a home environment.

“Unfortunately, Stella was discovered to have a heart murmur and chronic degenerative valve disease after she arrived at Frosted Faces Foundation and was considered hospice,” wrote FFF.

Her big, sad eyes touched the heart of Janice and Tyson Krehbiel who decided to adopt her and “vowed to love her during her final chapter!”

Stella knew she was home and let her walls down to reveal her true personality. The Krehbiel family shared an update with FFF and said, “she is one cool old broad.”

When she was not patrolling the yard with her canine siblings, she was trying out all the different dog beds to find the perfect one for a nap. Stella loved to eat and was a fan of 70’s classic rock.

“There’s nothing more satisfying than giving an old dog a comfortable life,” they added.

Just a few short months after finding her forever home, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Her family is devastated, but glad they were able to give her the life she deserved.

They told FFF, “Scrolling through Facebook, Stella’s Beagley eyes stopped me in my tracks. I just had to meet her. It was clear after meeting her, all this sweet lady needed was a quiet place where she would be loved for the rest of her life. We didn’t set out to adopt a hospice dog but we don’t regret it for one second. She was so polite and quiet. She was only 10 but had such a gentle old soul. She would wander over to where you were sitting and lean into pets and kisses and stare into your eyes. We are so sad we only had her for a short time. Rest in peace sweet Stellers, you were a (gem).”

She will be greatly missed. Her mom, Janice, commented on the post announcing her passing and said, “Her previous owner might have forgotten about her, but Frosted Faces Foundation didn’t and we will never.”
