59 Shelter Dogs Get Fresh Start In Idaho, Thanks To You

Yesterday was a life-changing day for 59 at-risk shelter dogs. Billy the Kid, Clarissa, and dozens more were loaded onto a plane in New Orleans for a second chance at a forever home in Idaho.

The Flight to Freedom touched down in Boise, Idaho and shelter staff and volunteers from Idaho Humane Society and Lake Lowell Animal Rescue rushed to greet them.

One by one the dogs were carefully unloaded from the plane and carried to nearby vans to be transported back to the shelters.

Dogs of all sizes, breeds, and ages were saved thanks to generous people like you who helped fund the cost of fuel for the flight.

One of the saved dogs is a chocolate Labrador retriever named Scarlet. She was pulled from an overcrowded Louisiana shelter suffering from severe hip dysplasia. The shelter was unable to afford the expensive surgery, so Greater Good Charities stepped up to cover the cost and found a shelter in Idaho that is able to give her the care she needs. Once she has fully recovered, she will find her forever home.

You may remember the 8-year-old hounds, Billy the Kid and Tammy, we told you about a week ago. Both are ready to find their person and explore Idaho.

These dogs along with the adorable puppies will soon find loving homes and get the second chance they deserve.

Be sure to follow Idaho Humane Society and Lake Lowell Animal Rescue for more updates on the rescued dogs. You can also reach out to them if you are interested in adopting one of the dogs from the recent flight.
