IT’S NATIONAL FEED A RESCUE PET WEEK!
Food is one of the most vital needs for shelters and rescue organizations. For many of these groups, after food costs, they have little or nothing left in their budget for medical treatment, vaccines, or adoption programs. That’s why GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank is hosting a pet food drive to ship food to shelters and rescue groups across the country – so they can save more animals like Emmanuel.
At the time of rescue, Emmanuel was living in a home with not only his four siblings but a dozen other animals. He was malnourished, underweight, congested, and flea infested. Despite all this, Emmanuel was instantly friendly. He even graciously allowed Ferndale Cat Shelter to bathe him, comb his fleas off, and administer medication without so much as a hiss or a swipe.
Within just a few days of being in a clean environment and on a proper kitten diet, Emmanuel and his siblings began to flourish. Runny eyes gradually cleared and brightened, visible ribs became round little bellies, and dull fur transformed into soft, shiny coats. Emmanuel went from 3 pounds (considerably underweight for a 5-month-old kitten) to 5 pounds in only 3.5 weeks thanks to high-quality pet food donated by GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank. Emmanuel was the first of his litter to “graduate” to his forever home. He was adopted by a loving family who is already spoiling him with all the scratching posts, catnip, toys, and love a kitty could want.
Ferndale Cat Shelter said, “Rescue Bank donations allow our organization to provide nutritious food and other cat comforts to the felines in our care. We can then focus our fundraising efforts on paying veterinary costs to vaccinate, neuter, and microchip all of the cats in our care.”
Shelter pets around the country need your help to fill their bellies with food. Celebrate National Feed a Rescue Pet Week by purchasing a nourishment packet which includes:
– A donation to ship 100 meals as part of National Feed A Rescue Pet Week via GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank program
– Two high-quality stainless steel bowls for a pet’s food and water
– A bag of treats
Our goal is to feed 4 million homeless pets, but we need your help.
