Safari guide Brendan Cole caught an adorable moment on camera at the Mala Mala Game Reserve in South Africa.
An adorable elephant calf was taking his first steps, and it will melt your heart. Encouraged by the older siblings in the herd, this calf showed true determination to get on his feet.
After a half hour of struggling, the calf finally was able to balance on his feet. The herd would take a break from walking everyone and a while to give the baby a chance to rest.
Mala Mala Game reserve shares a 12-mile unfenced border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park, and lies between the National Park and the Sabi Sand Reserve. As their website states, “For nearly nine decades, the custodians of this land have remained focused to preserve and protect this special piece of Africa.” It allows the animals to roam as they please in their natural habitat, while visitors can watch them and take photographs from a distance.
