Dog Who Suffered For Years From Untreated Allergies Needs Multiple Surgeries And A Loving Home

A sweet terrier mix named Roo was surrendered by her owners because they were unable to afford her medical care. For years, Roo suffered from severe allergies which went untreated.

She arrived at PawsCo in desperate need of medical care with irritated skin, eye issues, and several large masses. The Colorado rescue had her examined by a veterinary clinic who shared that the road to recovery will be long and expensive.

PawsCo rescues homeless pets in need of medical care from rural shelters and makes sure they receive the treatment they need in a loving foster home – no matter the cost.

Roo has been started on medications to treat the bacterial infections, injections to help control her allergies, and a special diet.

The rescue made sure that Roo was getting the care she needed and then reached out to Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Care Fund for help. The Emergency Animal Medical Fund was started to provide grants to animal shelters and rescues to cover emergency surgeries and other medical care.

The friendly pup will also need surgery to remove the large benign masses that impact her comfort, enucleation surgery due to an eye/cornea condition that continued to worsen over time, and ongoing treatment for bacterial infections and skin irritations due to severe allergies.

Roo will need to be on several medications and a special diet for life to manage her allergies. She is already improving and living with a loving foster family who is teaching her to walk on a leash and other basic commands.

She can live a full and happy life on her prescribed medications. Her ideal home would have a backyard for zoomies, an active family who will take her for long daily walks and be financially stable to afford her monthly expenses.

The shelter shared, “She adores everyone she meets, especially kids! And while she does need a special family who is comfortable taking care of her skin allergies with medication and special food, her resilience and zest for life are sure to win the hearts of the family out there who is meant to be hers!”

For years she has been in pain, but with your donations she can begin to recover. Help us meet our goal of $4,000 to help Roo live without pain.
