Dog Abandoned Outside Texas Shelter With A Broken Leg Needs Your Help

Meet Arthur.

The 6-month-old Great Pyrenees mix was abandoned by his family when he needed them most. Arthur was found next to a tree outside the Humane Society of North Texas in horrible shape.

He was dehydrated, covered in fleas, and in immense pain from a broken leg. Despite all the pain he was in, he never stopped wagging his tail.

Arthur was immediately examined by Dr. Misty Mendes, director of shelter medicine, who believes he was most likely hit by a car before being abandoned outside the shelter.

The sweet boy was given fluids and started on pain medication. Arthur has a left hind fractured femur and is unable to put weight on the leg. He will need emergency surgery, which is costly, to save his leg.

The shelter reached out to Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical fund for help with his medical expenses. The fund was created to give stray and shelter pets the medical care they need so they can have a second chance at finding a loving home.

Arthur deserves to run and play again, as puppies should.

After surgery, he will need months of rehabilitation in a medical foster home before he is available for adoption.

The shelter knows that he will quickly find a new loving home once he has healed. “We are confident he will be adopted quickly, once he’s completed treatment and rehabilitation. This breed of dog is known for being gentle, affectionate, and extremely loyal to their families. He has brought so much joy to everyone he’s come into contact with, and he deserves a loving family who will return the love and affection he is giving so freely to others!”

Help us meet our goal of $2,500 to feed and care for Arthur. Your support will not only give Arthur the hope to keep fighting, but your donations will help cover the surgery, ongoing care and food he will need.
