Two beautiful black Retriever siblings were surrendered at 10-years-old because their owner said they were, “old and smelly.”
Donnie and Marie, a senior pair of black Retrievers, have never known love. They lived their entire lives outside. The only companionship and love they know is from each other. The heartless woman who owned them put them in a crate in the back of a truck and hauled them to the shelter.
The Humane Animal Treatment Society in Mt. Pleasant staff was heartbroken when they heard the woman surrender them because they were old and smelly. She does not deserve the sweet dogs. The staff has asked that the dogs be adopted together.
After 10 years of loyalty and unwavering devotion, they were dumped at the shelter. Thankfully, they have each other for comfort. Dogs ask for so little in return – just love.
Thanks to a donation, both dogs were brought to a groomer to get a bath and some extra loving. The sweet dogs are looking for a forever home that will allow them to live inside and show them what love is. They deserve to have a family that appreciates and loves them.
If you are interested in adopting them you can contact the shelter at (989) 775-0830 to learn more.
