In a country like Greece, donkeys are either considered an old school useless tool, replaced by all terrain cars, or being exploited for profit, and serving as a tourist attraction.
Because of this sad matter, a couple decided to make a sanctuary in Athens, Greece, for these unwanted donkeys. They called it “Donkey’s Land,” and it’s like an oasis in the desert.
The couple’s mission is to not only help care for these donkeys, but to restore the truth about the donkey, an animal highly misunderstood by most. Its purpose is to highlight the characteristics of the donkey to promote new ways of introducing it to today’s life, and the contact with the animal, which is valuable, and even therapeutically.
People who have never met a donkey consider it to be stubborn and dumb, but this perception couldn’t be further from the truth.
