These two adorable two-week-old young bulls, named Don and Ed, spent the first days of their lives at a dairy farm. Most of the time, the male cows at dairy farms are not used for much except for breeding, and since they are not needed, many of them are raised just to later be sent to the slaughterhouse and killed for their meat. But thanks to The Sanctuary at Soledad Goats, these two little guys never have to worry about their lives coming to that horrible fate.
Their owners at the farm, Carol and Julian Pearce, feed them a formulated mixture of goats milk three times a day. Thanks to them, these cuties will get to spend the rest of their days in a safe place, getting the love and attention they deserve, as well as making new friends with the other cows, goats, and even the dog named Molly. I’m so happy for these little babies!
Their owners, the Pearce’s, were once award-winning goat cheese makers who, in 2015, decided to give it all up and go vegan. The two of them met while saving sick calves, and then spent time in England, where Carol was known to kidnap another farmer’s animals to save them from slaughter. For the two of them, it has always been about animals. At The Sanctuary at Soledad Goats, their nonprofit rescue, they rescue abused, abandoned and neglected goats, cows, horses, pigs, chickens, ducks and dogs.
