A little 2-year-old French bulldog named Winston, survived a six-story fall off the roof of a New York building when he ended up crashing through a parked car’s sunroof.
Emma Heinrich said Winston’s fall came about after he went running up the stairs of her Manhattan apartment and leaped onto the roof where he was unable to stop himself before reaching the edge of the roof.
Heinrich told WCBS-TV, “I kind of watched him reach the edge and try to slow himself down, but it was too late and he just tumbled over the edge. It was one of the most terrifying moments that I’ve experienced. It was really, really scary. The three seconds between him going over the edge and him making an impact was … felt like hours.”
Heinrich then dashed outside to the street, completely heartbroken and fully expecting to recover the 30-pound lifeless body of her beloved pet, but she was in for a very lucky shock.
“He was just up, sitting on the driver’s seat. Just kind of, like, heavily panting but just looking around at everyone staring at him. Everyone was like, ‘Is this your dog?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ I was almost, couldn’t speak for a minute because I was in shock and awe that he was seemingly so OK,” Heinrich said.
Miraculously, Winston had only sustained minor injuries after we went crashing through the sunroof of a car. He was able to go home straight after getting a few stitches at his vet’s office.
Heinrich told CNN. “I’m still trying to wrap my head around the astronomical odds of him walking away from this fall with nothing more than a few cuts and scratches.”
Both Heinrich and her husband have already offered to pay for the damage done to the car’s sunroof – but there’s no doubt that is the smallest price to pay for having a happy, healthy Winston.
