BREAKING NEWS: Major Pet Food Brand Extends Recall For Dog and Cat Food Due To Contamination

Columbia River Natural Pet Foods of Vancouver, WA is extending its recent recall to include additional dog and cat food due to possible Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

No confirmed illness have been reported at this time. The recall is a result of routine sampling that was performed by Washington State Department of Agriculture . They found some of the products contained the bacteria. Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes have been the cause of multiple recalls this year.

What Is Recalled?

The recall includes 261 packages of Cow Pie Lot #72618 and 82 packages of Chicken & Vegetables Lot#111518 fresh frozen meats for dogs and cats, produced in July 2018 and November 2018.

Cow Pie and Chicken and Vegetables are fresh frozen meat products intended to be fed raw to dogs and cats.

Package Size: 2 pounds
Lot Number: 72618

Columbia River Chicken and Vegetables Food for Dogs and Cats
Package Size: 2 pounds
Lot Number: 111518

The lot number is located on the orange sticker on the plastic bag.

The food was sold in the following states through retail stores and direct delivery:

Alaska
Oregon
Washington

Symptoms Of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes

– nausea
– aches
– fever
– vomiting
– diarrhea
– meningitis

According to Dog Food Advisor, “Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in humans and animals.”

Humans are affected when they touch the contaminated food, so be sure to thoroughly wash your hands. If you have fed any of the recalled product and your pet is showing any of the above symptoms, call your vet immediately.
