Disabled Dog Abandoned When His Family Decides They No Longer Want Him

For better or for worse doesn’t just apply to marriage. It is a good way to treat all your relationships in your life. You stick by those who love you in both the good times and bad – and this includes your pets.

It is so heartbreaking to know that there are some animals out there who are abandoned by their owners just because they happen to run into a rough patch that requires some care and patience.

The gentle Pumba was one such dog. The poor thing had been used for breeding by his owner, and then when he was no longer of service, the owner decided that the dog could be chucked out to fend for himself.

The worst part was, Pumba couldn’t walk. Clearly, the owner didn’t care in the slightest. Fortunately for Pumba, someone had called in Animal Aid Unlimited to come and help the disabled pooch.

The rescuers weren’t put off by his disabled condition. In fact, they were willing to work hard to get him back to health. The first step they took was helping Pumba undergo hydrotherapy.

It seems that his previous owner didn’t allow him to exercise, so they had a long road trying to slowly introduce the dog to movement. Pumba took it in stride and he cooperated with his rescuers. In fact, the gentle giant seemed to enjoy both the water and the constant affection.

He made great strides, and by his sixth week, he was able to stand and walk around all by himself. Perhaps the sweetest moment was when he learned what it means to have another doggie friend to run and play with.
