A tiny, adorable deer found himself stuck in a groundhog hole, unable to get out on his own. Thankfully, he was discovered by some kind-hearted men who did everything they could to get him out.
They tried making the hole bigger, but realized the tree roots in the ground right near the hole were hindering them from moving the dirt.
The deer’s head, neck, and one of his front legs were sticking out of the hole, but rescuers were concerned with his back legs. They didn’t want to just yank him out and risk breaking his legs.
One man tried pulling him out while another tried to reach his arm down in the hole to support his hind legs, but it didn’t go as planned. They then decided that the only way to get him out was to dig him all the way out.
They put a towel over the deer’s head so that the dirt wouldn’t get on him, and then they began shoveling the hole. They were finally able to pull the deer out of the hole as he was crying in fear.
They agreed that they needed to take this poor little guy to the back of the house, which is where they last saw his mother. The video ends after the rescue, but we can assume that the deer was put back into the wild and reunited with his mom!
Thank goodness for these kind men who went out of their way to save this scared baby deer! Watch the rescue in the video below:
