The animal-loving corners of the Internet – and isn’t that most of it? — collectively swooned upon hearing that ISIS’s leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was finally cornered with the help of a dog.

The announcement, which was first revealed on President Trump’s Twitter feed, has since gone viral, even though the military K-9’s declassified photo was scrubbed of identifying details, including the animal’s name and breed.

Naturally, we’d all like to thank this four-legged hero by name, but understand that sharing such sensitive information could jeopardize future missions. Even so, Twitter has found a way to honor this very good boy or girl – by giving a massive social media shout out to all of (wo)man’s best friends.

These other dogs aren’t out saving lives, per se, but they are making somebody’s world a better place.

One user acknowledged his pooch isn’t a war hero exactly, but possesses other skills. “DECLASSIFYING this picture of my dog (name also DECLASSIFIED: George),” he tweeted. “He isn’t a war hero, but he does a remarkably good job sleeping like a human sleeps.”

Another Twitter user posted an image of her dogs on “high alert for any terrorists aka squirrels.”

“We have declassified a picture of a very good boy that did such a GREAT JOB in going potty outside!” another user wrote.

“Recently Declassified photo, unspecified location, 11/10 would chase you down for treats,” another user wrote, posting a photo of a black dog in adorable army fatigues.

Even Larry the Cat — The British Parliament’s famous “Chief Mouser” — threw in his two cents, inviting other cat owners to join in the fun. “We have declassified a picture of the wonderful cat (name not declassified) that did such a GREAT JOB having a nap,” he wrote above his own photo.
