As we’re well into October, the spookiest month of the year, creepy and spooky decorations have no doubt started to pop up in your neighborhood.
Black cats usually rule this season, though of course, they still deserve love the other 11 months of the year!
If you’re still looking for a bit of “Halloweenie” fun to get you in the mood, then check out this lawn decoration — a celebration of dachshunds and the spooky season:
“Bought the collars and leashes this year from the dollar store. They’ll be great to donate to my local rescue,” she added.
Spread out in front of the skeleton couple holding hands are 11 adorable skeleton dachshunds on leashes. In front of them is a skeleton with a pair of skeleton wiener dogs, one of whom is holding his owner’s arm in his mouth!
Joking about the breed, one commenter said they must have “died waiting for their dogs to stop sniffing.”
With over 2,000 comments and 75,000 shares, Alves’ post spread far from its initial share on the Dachshund Lovers Facebook page. Explaining her motivation, she wrote, “I lost one of my seniors right after Halloween last year and still have an 18 year old.”
In spite of her loss, she still sees the fun in a display that celebrates the season and her favorite breed, adding, “nothing can replace my babies and Halloween is fun – and humorous.”
Diane’s spooky celebration of her favorite breed brought smiles to not only the group but across social media as well — and who knows how many other dog lovers it inspired to decorate their own yards?
