If you love cats, there are tons of ways to make a difference in their lives. Sometimes you can’t share your life with a kitty of your own due to health constraints or living restrictions, but there are numerous ways to look after the welfare of cats in your community. Show your (tiger) stripes with any of these eight activities that help cats in need.
Volunteer Your Time
Volunteer your time at a local shelter or fundraising event. You might work in the front office, help keep the place clean or show people around the shelter as they find a new member of the family.
Many crafts fit a cat’s needs. Several basic feral cat shelters provide homes for cats that live outside in your community. Make simple cloth toys to keep cats occupied as they wait for forever homes, or create a do-it-yourself harness that teaches cats to walk on a leash.
Advocate for Spaying and Neutering
Support local spay and neuter programs by educating fellow cat lovers, donating to shelters that have these programs and leading by example if you have your own pets.
Start a Fundraiser
Start a fundraiser for your favorite local shelter by organizing a fun event that gets the community involved. This can be a day at the park, a cat food shelter collection drive or a formal dinner gathering that touts saving the lives of pets in need.
