Imperfect Never Seemed Sweeter: Humans Who Embrace Animals With Disabilities!

In the not-too-distant past, dogs with disabilities had a very slim chance of ever finding a permanent, loving home. Fortunately, this is no longer the case, as there are countless shelters that specialize in finding forever homes for special needs dogs. Blind, deaf, wheelchair-bound and even paralyzed dogs are getting adopted thanks to dedicated, compassionate humans who embrace animals with disabilities. These wonderful individuals work for organizations that rescue disabled dogs, give them quality medical care and then place them with loving individuals or families.

Deaf Dogs Rock

Deaf Dogs Rock began with Nitro, an adorable, hearing impaired boxer puppy. Today, the national organization specializes in rescuing deaf dogs, placing them up for adoption and educating the public about dogs with hearing impairments. Nitro serves as the organization’s CED (Chief Executive Dog).

Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation (SNARR)
SNARR rescues deaf dogs, blind dogs and dogs with serious medical conditions. Its mission is to give hope to hopeless dogs that most shelters consider “unadoptable.” Thanks to SNARR, many disabled dogs enjoy wonderful lives with loving families.

Blind Dog Rescue Alliance

Blind Dog Rescue Alliance caters to visually impaired dogs. The organization opened its doors in 2009, and as of 2016, it has found homes for more than 400 blind dogs. The company also educates the public about caring for dogs with visual impairments.

Pets With Disabilities

Pets With Disabilities is an organization with a group of dedicated volunteers who rescue visually impaired, hearing impaired and paralyzed dogs throughout the United States. Volunteers also act as educators and advocates for pets with disabilities.
