Wild Rescue Crow Becomes Best Friends With Gentle German Shepherd

Have you ever heard the expression that birds of a feather flock together?

When most of us hear this expression, we automatically think about how animals of different species don’t necessarily mix very well.

As it turns out, there are times when animals of different species not only get along but become best friends. Ask anyone who has both a cat and a dog in their home and they will tell you that it’s a real possibility.

This fact came out in a beautiful way when it came to Xena, the German Shepherd. She had a very close friend, but it wasn’t another German Shepherd or even another dog, it was a crow.

According to The Dodo, that crow, Pepe, had fallen out of a tree when he was just a little chick and the mother didn’t come back. That isn’t very unusual for birds, but it seems as if the Xena wasn’t going to have any of it.

Joanna, Xena’s human mom, snatched up Pepe and very carefully took him home. Before long, the bird and dog were enjoying some walks together and playing with each other.

Joanna wanted the bird to head back to the wild so she did teach him how to fly. She also made sure that he could take care of himself but the bird still continues to love Xena and Joanna.

Since that time, Pepe has rejoined his crow friends in the wild but he still stops by on occasion to say hello to Xena and make sure everything is okay.
