New York City Man Takes Pet Chicken With Him Pretty Much Wherever He Goes
Crooks the chicken isn’t your ordinary pet, but don’t tell that to his owner, Spencer McCormick. McCormick and his family live in Brooklyn, New York and have owned Crooks since she was a chick. McCormick says the laid-back chicken loves the big city life.

“She’s persistently enthusiastic,” Spencer McCormick, Crooks’ dad, told The Dodo. “She’s always down to see what’s up and hang out. I’d say her personality is a mix of Winston Churchill and Taylor Swift — she’s indefatigable but casual, effortless.”

It is no secret that McCormick loves his pet. In fact, Crook accompanies him almost everywhere he goes, just like you might see someone with their dog. It is no big deal for the farm animal to take a stroll through Central Park or pay a visit to Coney Island.

Heck, Crooks has even visited the Statue of Liberty!

Crooks isn’t the family’s only chicken. The McCormicks also own another chicken, a bantam silkie named Mumu. Don’t worry, Mumu gets to have all of his own adventures as well. However, Crooks is definitely the one that is always up for an adventure with her dad.

“She’s affectionate but not like a cat or dog,” McCormick said. “I don’t think she enjoys petting. However, she’ll follow me around and at dusk she’ll try to roost on my head. She loves cuddling.”

McCormick says there are places that Crooks the chicken doesn’t enjoy going with the family, such as the beach and meadows because that’s considered “hawk territory.”

Many can’t get enough of this unusual duo. In fact, you can follow along with all of McCormick and Crooks’ adventures on the chicken’s Instagram page! It is hilarious to see this chicken parading through the streets of New York, some are even calling him an inspiration! It seems like McCormick would agree!
