Big Fluffy Dog Rescue is determined to find the perfect home for a “stumpy little corgi/sheltie mix” named Nala. But Nala has a list of nonnegotiable demands.
Nala was rescued from Kuwait from what appeared to be a rough life and brought to the U.S. for a second chance at happiness. Jean Harrison, who founded the rescue, feels the best way to find dogs their perfect match is to be brutally honest in their descriptions.
She recently made a post asking for “magic” as 5-year-old Nala requires a “unicorn of a home”. She started by highlighting her good qualities. “Nala is an amazing dog. She is devoted, sweet and eager to please in her home. She is housebroken, well-mannered and incredibly obedient.”
Not to mention, the fluffy dog is absolutely adorable and is even smiling in the photo accompanying the post. But then Harrison revealed the ‘bad news’.
“Nala loves her home so much she has zero interest in sharing it. This means she does not want to share it with new people, with dogs or with cats.”
To put it simply, Nala doesn’t like to share anything with anyone, except with her ONE special person. That is why Harrison said the rescue is on the search for “a social hermit who wants a dog and not a lot else.”
Don’t even think about trying to change her, as the rescue states, “There’s no training to fix a general dislike of sharing.”
Two different foster families took Nala in but sadly returned her when she growled at guests or as she saw them as “invading infidels”. Once the invaders left she returned to her happy self.
“She wants what she wants and what she wants is a quiet, lazy home with people who don’t have a lot of people coming in and out and with no other animals.”
The rescue notes that Nala does fine out in public but is very protective of her home.

Nala is a staff favorite and described as “the dog version of a cranky old lady who hits people with a cane when they come to visit.”
Does this sound like anyone you know? Maybe Ouiser Boudreaux? “Nala would be her spirit animal. No doubt about it.”
Harrison has a talent for describing the dog’s “bad” traits in a way that is entertaining and alluring. But in all seriousness, the staff is holding out for the perfect fit and is open to any adopters in the eastern U.S.
“Social butterflies absolutely should pass, but if your idea of a big night is Golden Girls reruns and snacks, this is your girl. We will only place her in a home without kids, cats or dogs and with a fenced yard.”
Anyone interested in adopting Nala can email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info. Check out the rescue’s other adoptable dogs here. Adopt don’t shop!
