Dog Returned Two Days After Being Adopted Finds The Perfect Forever Home

When a dog transitions from a foster home to its forever, adoptive home, it’s usually a joyous occasion. Sure, some tears might be shed as the foster parents say goodbye, but they know it’s for a good cause and are happy to see an animal getting a second chance at life.

However, a sad reality is that not all adoptions work out. Sometimes the animals end up in less than attentive homes or they’re downright neglected and abused. Other times, the owners realize they can’t actually care for the dog they promised to give a new home to, so they give the dog away or give it back to the shelter.

While it can be heartbreaking to see this happen, it’s usually best when a dog is returned in those instances so they’re not stuck with a family that won’t give them everything they need to be happy, healthy, and thriving.

That was the case with a little pup named Chips Ahoy. The dog had been living with foster parents, Julie and Brendan, and was slowly making a lot of progress. Chips Ahoy was extremely timid and afraid, but she slowly warmed up with Brendan, and eventually, to Julie.

It was clear that Chips needed a lot of time to decompress in a new environment and to build up trust with new people. When Julie and Brendan heard that someone was interested in adopting the timid pup, they were overjoyed but also sad to say goodbye.

They’d been working with Chips for a while and couldn’t wait to hear how she adjusted to life with her new family. Sadly, they were heartbroken to learn that Chips had been returned to the shelter just two days later because she was “too much work.”

In an interview with The Dodo, Julie said that Chips “wasn’t too much work,” but she just needed time – something her adoptive family clearly wasn’t ready to offer.

Chips Ahoy went back with Julie and Brendan while the search for a new adoptive family began, but then, Julie realized that she didn’t want Chips to have to go through that transition ever again. She knew Chips was her dog, a part of the family, and she wanted to keep it that way forever.

Chips is now living her best life with her loving foster fail parents! Watch the video below:
