Cat Found With A Heartbreaking Note From The Previous Owner Tied To Her Collar

Normally, when people abandon their pets it’s because they don’t want them anymore and couldn’t care less what happens to them, but that wasn’t quite the case for Violet, a Siamese cat who was rescued in Illinois on Monday, November 25th.

The cat was found looking very well-cared for, along with a note that said she had a note attached that said she has a “very sweet” disposition.

Upon further inspection, after Violet was brought into the Effingham County Animal Shelter, her pink collar had a note tied to it, proving that she indeed had previously been in a home.

The letter was apparently written by a child using a sheet of paper and a purple marker. It was addressed to her new owners and was actually very heart-breaking as it asked them to take good care of her.

After the spelling was corrected, the letter read, “Bye Violet. I think that name chose you. I wish I could keep you. Bye Violet, I hope you get a good owner. To owner: Please take good care of her. by the way, I named her. Thank you! Love, Lacey.”

The letter name people at the shelter feel heartbroken for the little girl, with animal control officer, Vanessa Skavlem, saying to The Dodo, “When we pull it off and read it, it just tugs at your heartstrings. I just envision some child loving this thing, and knowing that they can’t keep it.”

Sadly, when Violet was scanned at the shelter for a microchip, nothing came up so it is impossible to get in contact with Violet’s former owners. Instead, the shelter posted a picture of Violet and the note on social media, which led her to find a forever home.

Violet’s new owner, Cindy Murray first came across her picture and couldn’t help but become overwhelmed by tears. And Cindy told The Dodo that she could tell that Violet had been loved by the young girl, “but she just wasn’t able to keep her anymore and she wants her to go to a good home.”

As Cindy explained, “I screenshotted the post and sent it to my husband at work, and said, ‘I want to go get this cat. I love it – talk me out of it.’ And he said, ‘You know I can’t do that. If you want it, go get it.’”

After visiting Violet at the shelter, Cindy picked up on her nervousness, so she decided to take Violet home that same day. Once at her new home, Violet calmed down and began to relax and come out of her shell. As it turns out, she’s constantly purring.

Cindy also has hopes to somehow get in touch with the little girl who previously took care of Violet, and is even thinking about posting an online video in hopes of finding her.

As Cindy hopes to tell her, “Dear Lacey, I adopted your beautiful Violet. She’s going to have a wonderful life — full of treats, snuggles and everything we can give her.”

How sweet. We’re just happy that Violet found a forever home with Cindy.
