Nathan was adopted from Huntsville Animal Services by a retired couple who travel across the country in their RV. The couple had been traveling with three senior cats and each had passed away over the past three years. They lost the last, Cooke, this past year.

They decided to adopt again, but were worried about getting the right cat that would enjoy traveling. As a volunteer at the shelter, I was showing them a cute kitten, and in the background was a one-year-old solid black cat scratching at the glass door for attention. Their focus went right toward Nathan, as he was later named.

This poor cat was thin and had some hair loss, but he just stole the couple’s hearts. Off he went on a voyage of a lifetime.

He wears a harness and goes on walks through the forest from Alabama to California, and he also has a backpack especially made for him to rest in while his newly adopted family stroll along the trail. After six months, he has gained weight, has a beautiful coat and loves his new family.
