Cat Won’t Stop Sitting On Owner’s Lap So She Abandons Him

When you have a cat in your family, it doesn’t take long to realize that their personality is going to shine through in the most beautiful way.

Some cats love to run and hide and you rarely ever see them but others are constantly there, wanting to be petted and cheerfully purring away in your lap.

Such was the case with Jacque, a sweet little cat that absolutely loved to be part of the family. When you look into his eyes, you can’t help but be drawn in, and suddenly, you are in love. It’s inevitable.

The unfortunate thing was, that Jacque’s former owner didn’t have the same opinion of this beautiful animal. In fact, they didn’t appreciate the fact that the feline loved to cuddle so they dropped him off at the shelter and rejected him.

Jacque arrived at the shelter when he was only seven months old. He was dropped off by his first owner because they moved.

The Dodo was able to speak with the president of Michigan Cat Rescue, Nancy Hutchinson.

She said: “He was found in a house that was foreclosed upon. The person who owned him left him there and didn’t care. He was found by the realtor and brought into the shelter. This happens quite often, sadly.”

The shelter was overcrowded with animals so Jacque was put on the euthanasia list. He was scheduled to be put down but a kind visitor was there to help save the day. It was Hutchinson, who said: “I saw him in his cage and felt so bad for him. I opened up his cage and … sat on the floor with him for a while and he sat on my lap. I thought, ‘Wow. What a nice cat.’”

Jacque was taken out of the animal shelter and put into the care of Michigan Cat Rescue. He was put up for adoption, with the ad specifically saying that he was a lap cat. It wasn’t long before someone came and adopted him.

About a year later, the woman came back to abandon Jacque because he was “annoying.”

According to The Dodo, she said: “He’s constantly trying to sit in my lap – I just can’t stand it anymore. I’ll have to return him to you – this is not what I signed up for.”

Hutchinson said that it was what she signed up for because he was advertised as a lap cat. The truth was, she was just tired of having him in her life.

Jacque was having a really difficult time being abandoned, and he refused to eat for a few days. He was so stressed out that it affected his immune system and he caught an upper respiratory infection.

Fortunately, they were able to nurse Jacque back to health and he was once again put up for adoption. They let people know his story on Facebook and they could hardly keep up with the requests for adoption.

Out of all of the people who applied, Liz Myzinuk and her husband landed on the top of the pile, as shared by the rescue on Facebook. Hutchinson had a good feeling about them and invited them to come to meet the cat. It wasn’t long before they were crying happy tears and he knew he was on the right track.

In the end, Jacque was able to get the loving home he needed and the family got something in return, a cat that loves to be loved.
