Cat Abandoned For Being “Too Affectionate” Finds A Family That Loves His Cuddles

It’s hard to imagine someone giving their pet up, but it’s something that happens every day. Sometimes, circumstances change unexpectedly and people are unable to care for their pets. Other times, however, people give up their animals for reasons that are hard to comprehend.

That happened to a poor cat named Jerry who only wanted to be loved.

According to a TikTok video shared by the Humane Society Broward County, 4-year-old Jerry “is a sweet cat that loves to be pet and rub up against you.” While that’s a trait many cat owners appreciate, Jerry’s owner said it “annoyed her” too much. Unfortunately, they ended up abandoning Jerry at the humane society in Broward County, Florida citing “too affectionate” as the reason for giving him up.

In their post, they wrote:

“Too affectionate. That’s the reason 4-year-old Jerry was given-up. Jerry is a sweet cat that loves to be pet and rub up against you, but his former owner said it annoyed her too much. Jerry loved her, but she didn’t love him back, so she turned him in to our shelter. Now he’s heartbroken and confused. He’s hoping that someone will love him for who he is – a lovebug! Will you make Jerry your Valentine this year?”

After sharing the video about Jerry on TikTok, it wasn’t long before it went viral and received more than 9 million views and counting.

Naturally, people were heartbroken for poor Jerry and many people inquired about adopting him in the comments.

Thankfully, the media attention worked and the very next day, the animal shelter posted an update video and was pleased to announce that Jerry had been adopted!

“Sweet Jerry has found a loving forever home where he can be as affectionate as he wants!” they wrote in the description.

No cat should have to live in a shelter without a family to love – especially a cat that just wants to show affection and care to its owner!
