This adorable two pound Chihuahua is about to boogie straight to your heart, steal it and never let it go! Meet little Boogie Shoes! A dog that suffers from cerebellar hypoplasia, a condition where the cerebellum is not completely developed. It can cause a variety of symptoms, many which are harmless medically but make the animal appear drunk or wobbly.
This little guy was very underweight and with his condition, veterinarians feared he wouldn’t survive. BUT HE DID! And now Boogie Shoes is in a loving home with a great family who advocates for special needs pets. The truth is, many animals with special needs don’t require that much more to care for them and MANY people like you, can do it. Some special needs animals require daily medications that are easily given. Or extra vet visits that are a breeze to do with them. These animals require dedication, sure, but they are so worth it.
A friend of mine fosters special needs cats and has two special needs animals of her own. She is very dedicated and yes, she invests her time and energy doing a lot for them. But if you ask her if it’s too much energy or too much time… she will say NO WAY! This is what she was meant to do. My point is, consider adopting a special needs pet. Your soulmate (or second soulmate or third or fourth…LOL!) may be out there. Don’t let that label scare you.
