The world fell in love with Boo, an adorable Pomeranian known as the ‘World’s Cutest Dog’. His round fluffy face and bubbly personality melted the hearts of everyone he met. The 12-year-old died last week in his sleep from what his humans think was a broken heart.
Boo had a best friend, who was also a Pomeranian, named Buddy. The two were inseparable. They spent the past 10 years playing and entertaining the world through their social media pages. Their followers would comment on how their friendly faces and adorable photos made their days.
The sad news of Boo’s passing was posted on Facebook. His humans wrote, “With deepest sadness I wanted to share that Boo passed away in his sleep early this morning and has left us to join his best friend, Buddy. Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort. We know that Buddy was the first to greet him on the other side of that rainbow bridge, and this is likely the most excited either of them have been in a long time.”
Buddy had passed away a year ago and it took a toll on Boo. “Shortly after Buddy died, Boo showed signs of heart issues. We think his heart literally broke when Buddy left us. He hung on and gave us over a year. But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven.”
The dogs will not be forgotten since they touched the lives of so many people. Stuffed toys that were made to look like them are in the homes of many of their followers. In 2011, a book was written about Boo by his owner titled: The Life of the World’s Cutest Dog. The dogs lived like celebrities by meeting other famous people, having over 16 million followers on Facebook, and posting tons of photos of their adorable faces.

“Over the years Boo met some super cool people, a lot of crazy talented people, but most of all so many kind people…friends who gave him endless love, people who prioritized his comfort over getting that perfect picture, partners who understood that Buddy ALWAYS had to be included, and last but definitely not least, the amazing doctors, therapists, and staff at Adobe Animal Hospital and Sage Veterinary Centers for the countless hours of care and dedication they poured into Buddy and Boo.”
The dynamic duo became a trio when Bluebeary Pie, a Golden Retriever puppy, was added to the family. Blue, for short, is mourning the loss of his brothers. The trio even had their own hashtags #blondemafia and #b3misfits.
Fans are mourning the loss of Boo, but his humans are heartbroken. They posted, “Boo, we love you with all our hearts and will miss you until the day we meet again. Have fun running around with Buddy and creating adorable mischief wherever you guys go.”
They thanked all the followers for joining them on the amazing journey with the adorable pups. “Thank you to all of you for following along on their silly adventures over the past 10 years. They sure had a LOT of fun.
With love and our deepest gratitude,
Rest in peace, Boo.
