This poor dog, a Doberman pinscher, was found wandering the streets in really horrible shape. He had no hair on him at all – due to demodectic mange – his eyes were full of puss, his head was bleeding, and he was so emaciated that you could see his ribs.
He was very hard to handle since his skin was so infected which was very painful for him. They got him started on treatment for his mange, and luckily he was heartworm negative.
When he first arrived at Vet Ranch, he was nervous and growled and snapped at them. But just two days later, he was already behaving perfectly, probably because he realized that they’re there to help him.
After three weeks, he gained about 10% of his body weight, and they were finally able to neuter him. A week after the neuter, his infections were clearing up and his head wounds were healing. He gained 12-pounds total at this point and had tiny patches of hair growing back.
After six weeks, his eyes were almost done clearing up and he grew a lot more hair. He was finally starting to look like a dog! Ten weeks later, he was finally ready for his foster home and hopefully he’ll find a forever home very soon!
Watch his amazing transformation in the video below. It’s amazing to see how far he’s come! He looks like a whole new dog. Not only has he transformed physically, but he’s transformed mentally and socially as well. He’s such a happy dog now and it’s so heartwarming to see!
