Blind Kittens Adopted Together By Loving Family Who Has A Soft Spot For Special Needs Cats

Special needs cats spend more time in the shelter waiting for a forever home, but a pair of blind kittens hit the jackpot when they were adopted by Helen Marritt and her family.

RSPCA found two kittens at a construction site, both suffering with eye problems. The little ginger feline named Gabriel lost both of his eyes due to a cat flu. They found another kitten, Arthur, six weeks earlier at the same site who is believed to be Gabriel’s brother. Both of Arthur’s eyes were removed due to a painful condition known as entropion.

Even though both cannot see, it doesn’t stop them from running and playing.

After spending a year at the shelter, they have finally found the purr-fect home.

Helen Marritt and her family understand what it takes to care for a special needs cat. They adopted a one-eyed cat with a broken leg named Greebo. They showered him with love and he has transformed into Helen’s shadow.

“Ever since we adopted him we’d been discussing adopting another cat with special needs as we have the love, time and space to really care for a special cat,” Helen told RSPCA.

The family browsed RSPCA’s cat hub website and instantly fell in love with Gabriel and Arthur. They made sure to do their homework before meeting the adorable felines. Helen recalls, “As soon as we saw Arthur and Gabriel we just knew that they were the right cats for us. I read up everything I could find about looking after blind cats and fell in love with them even more!”

The frisky kittens found their people and will spend the rest of their days playing and cuddling together. According to their new mom, they are settling in nicely and are getting acquainted with the other cats.

Greebo is enjoying his new energetic brothers and the family said, “It’s hard to believe sometimes that Arthur and Gabriel can’t see, it’s truly amazing watching them play, they’re so clever.”

The Marritt family now has a total of eight cats which they spoiled over Christmas with a stocking full of goodies for each.

It is said that good things come to those who wait and that was definitely the case with Gabriel and Arthur.
