Betty White Fans Plan To Celebrate Her 100th Birthday By Giving Back To Animals

Betty White, a beloved actress and animal advocate, passed away on December 31 at the age of 99.

But her fans still plan on celebrating her milestone birthday on January 17.

Aside from being known for her witty sense of humor and role in “Golden Girls”, White devoted a lot of her time to helping animals.

For over 50 years she worked with Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), the nonprofit partner of Los Angeles Zoo, to help save endangered species and improve conditions for zoo animals.

She supported guide dogs for the blind, endangered wolves, and various animal rescues.

Her love of animals began when she was just a child. Both of her parents were animal lovers and the family took in countless dogs during the Great Depression.

She continued to adopt many rescue animals during her life and said goodbye to her last beloved dog, Pontiac, in 2017.

“I just like animals more than I like people. It’s that simple,” White said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2015.

The world is heartbroken over her sudden death. Her fans plan to pay tribute to the animal lover by celebrating her upcoming birthday in a big way.

The #BettyWhiteChallenge has gone viral on social media. It encourages people to donate $5 to a local animal rescue or shelter in Betty White’s name on January 17. “Make her 100th birthday the moment she deserves.”
