Dogs are known to be quite clever. If you’ve had a dog before, you probably recognize the smart ways they do things to get what they want.
Their intelligence isn’t just anecdotal, either. The American Psychological Association claims that dogs are as smart as 2-2.5 year old human. Smithsonian Magazine says dogs can “understand up to 250 words, interpret human emotions, and even pull off crafty tricks when trying to score a snack.”
However, as most dog owners know, it’s not just scoring a snack that dogs will be crafty or clever for. Sometimes, they learn things to make their life easier or to get what they want.
It seems that’s what a dog named Bernie did when he taught himself to “break into” the house.

In a video shared with ViralHog, you can see Bernie, a small breed dog, outside in the backyard. Standing between him and what he wants is a sliding glass door.
While some dogs would sit by the door and plead with their human to come inside, Bernie decided to take things into his own paws.
He walks right under the handle of the door and leaps up toward, but falls short. He attempts it a few more times and finally reaches the handle!
With one more powerful jump, he hops up to the handle of the door and pushes it – opening the door just enough to squeeze inside.
It’s quite impressive, especially given his size.
