Coming up to the holidays, there are a lot of pets sitting in shelters who are looking for their forever homes. The Stray Rescue of Saint Louis recently had a very special group of visitors visit them in order to do something about it.
The photography project Dancers and Dogs brought in some dancers from the St. Louis Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker, and helped to transform the shelter into a winter wonderland – all in an attempt to get the pets adopted.
During the visit, the ballet dancers were paired off with dogs and cats as dance partners during a photoshoot. In the pictures, the animals are seen striking adorable poses while the dancers dance around them in their full Nutcracker attire.

Once the shoot was over, the stunning pictures were posted online where they’re now gaining a lot of attention and praise for helping precious shelter pets find their forever homes in time for the holidays.
Kelly Pratt, one of the creators of Dancers and Dogs, said, “It’s special to know that our work might bring more attention to dogs and cats that deserve a second chance at a happy and comfortable life. And if we can bring a smile to people’s faces at the same time, all the better.”
Pratt and Ian Kreidich, both from St. Louis, began the project as a fun idea, but then it grew into something that helps to give back to the animals who participate in their photoshoots.
If you want to adopt one of the adorable little sugarplums from the pictures, you can fill out an adoption application on Stray Rescue of Saint Louis’ website.
