These Apartments In Japan Were Designed Specifically For Single People With Cats

Japan is known for many interesting inventions, some that are more practical than others. But nothing beats what they are doing for cat owners, by creating the perfect apartment for you and your feline friend.

Anyone who has a cat knows that creating the perfect space for them is important. That is why we buy them fancy jungle gyms and other high-rise items so they can feel like they’ve got a place to retreat to. Some of us may even physically build them stuff, but if we’re renting, it might be a little difficult to fully turn our homes into cat-friendly sanctuaries.

Fortunately for those in Japan, there is a real estate agency that recognized the needs of cat owners and their pets. Therefore, they teamed up with Felissimo – a company that specializes in cat-themed designs – in order to create a space that any cat owner would consider the perfect apartment.

Wada Kosan, a property developer, was the one to start the collaboration with Felissimo to come up with the new rental project. The results were the stunning Waco Le Viano Tarumi Shirogayama Neko no Ie apartment building.

In Japanese, Neko no Ie means “cat’s house.” And true to its name, the building’s rental apartments perfectly cater to any cat’s needs.

There is one minor catch: the apartments are all designed to be single-occupancy. Of course, the single-occupancy doesn’t apply to the cats. All apartments have a bedroom, which also doubles as a living room, plus a bathroom, a shower, and a kitchenette – all the makings of a nice and quiet life with your cat.

However, the apartments are all fitted with the best features for your feline companion. The walls of the apartments have plenty of shelves that your cat can easily climb on. And there are boxes in the walls as well.

The apartment building designers didn’t forget about feline safety since the apartments have been installed with a sliding glass partition between the front door and the rest of the apartment in order to decrease the chances of your cat giving you the slip and escaping out of the front door.

Furthermore, there is a door to the kitchenette which features a lockable pet door in order to control their access to the kitchen. Of course, if you don’t mind your cat having free reign over the kitchen, then that’s all up to you. But, if you don’t want your cat in the kitchen, but still want to be able to look at them while you cook, there is a handy window in the kitchen door so you can look at the bedroom/living room.

Perhaps the best feature ever, is that the bathroom was designed with a designated space for your cat’s litter box, and it’s stored within a sub-floor compartment! The cat can easily access the litter box at any time since there is a cat door in the main bathroom door so your cat can easily go in and out, even if the bathroom door is kept closed.

These designers have truly thought of everything.

In addition, soranews 24 has reported that the apartment’s floors are softer than normal flooring in order to prevent scratching. And, the window screens were made out of extra-durable mesh to help withstand a cat’s claws.

And if your kitty starts to feel overwhelmed by visitors, or if they just need a little time to themselves, then there is a nice little compartment beneath the stairs for your cat to hide under.

Even the outside design of the building was created with cats in mind. Not only was it decorated with cat motifs, but the brickwork was meant to resemble the changing colors in a calico cat’s coat.

It’s truly the dream apartment for anyone with a cat. We have no doubt that those pet owners who manage to get an apartment within the building will be incredibly pleased with the design. And we’re sure the cats will happily call it home as well.
